Found this article on the evolution of the cell phone.
Just a fun look back at how far we've come.
I remember when my mom got the StarTac..the hot new phone of the mid-90s..
To put this into perspective, back then, we were still on dial-up, wireless internet was in its infancy, gps systems were not really used and mobile screens were pretty limited and monochromatic, and cell phones were pretty much a single-use device. (Hint: it was used as a phone.)
Fast-forward about a decade and we are in a world of iPhones, which use increasingly ubiquitous high-speed wireless internet, gps capabilities, hi-res colour screens, and software and computing capabilities that were more powerful than the desktop computers we had back in 1996.
Look forward to the next 10 years.
Secondary musing:
Technology is going through massive changes as we can see, but are we all really better off with it?
