Paul Rand's insight on design

Paul Rand has a huge influence in graphic design. He designed many classic icons including the IBM, UPS and ABC logos. In this animation created by
The Imaginary Forces, which created many famous movie trailers and advertisement was based on a Paul Rand interview. This short animation is created for Paul Rand's Posthumous induction into The One Club's Hall of Fame for 2007.

Although this is from a Graphic Designers point of view, I feel that it relates greatly also to Industrial Design. Since the approach and the process is quite similar. This animation is not only very nicely done, but it is also inspiring and gives me a further insight and approach to design. It is all about the balance of form and content, but in our case its form and function. And I am sure the language of form that Paul Rand describes applies into Industrial Design also, maybe they are worth exploring and looking at.
